It has no competition in the city. The Rimpao is comfortable and the service is adequate. English is understood and spoken by a small number of staff. The view is pleasing from the upper floors. The pool (not heated) has just been repaired and is a great attraction for any kids. The ground-floor restaurant has a limited foreign menu. Beer is available (no wine or spirits). The lower level offers four evening entertainment venues for relaxing, including a snooker hall and an Extreme disco. This hotel also offers full convention facilities and meeting rooms. Internet access is available at a cost, and the connection is of a somewhat poor quality and slow. But, hey, this is not downtown Bangkok! I used my Blackberry without any problems so had no need for additional Internet connection.I will certainly stay at the Rimpao the next time I am in the area on paleontological research.
